Welcome at Mini Magazine June 2023 Issue
Your car is your car. That simple truth is, always has been, and always will be the perennial constant of the modifying world. You build your car to please yourself because you’re the one driving and enjoying it; if you’ve built it primarily to please other people, something’s gone wrong.
That’s easy to say, of course, but we live in an age when hurtful and personal criticisms are just a refresh-tap away. Social media, for all its merits and benefits, can be a toxic place – just ask Dom, owner of this month’s cover car.
He’s taken more than his fair share of abuse from online haters who feel he’s ‘ruined’ his Mini. But his story is clear proof that you only live once, life is short, and you’ve got to try to ignore the haters and make yourself happy.
We’ve got plenty more to get the purists thinking this month, with a sprinkle of Japanese influences (the VTEC Mayfair, the JDM-ish R55, the Hondapowered project), and the craziest Clubman you’ve ever seen. And there’s a modded Mk2, a track-hungry R53, a lairy 1293 turbo… strap yourselves in, it’s a wild ride. Hope you enjoy it – join us back here next month for further adventures in the outer reaches of Mini mayhem…
